Ellen
Arledge is a licencesed clinical social worker with over 15 years
experience as a psychotherapist and trainer. She has a Masters of Social
Work degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC. She also has
extensive training in bioenergetics, EMDR (eye movement desensitization
reprocessing), and trauma recovery. Ellen has published several chapters
regarding care of the clinician doing trauma work and trauma recovery for
sexual abuse survivors in addition to co-producing two videos regarding
trauma interventions. She has also presented nationally and locally on
various topics of interest.
Before returning to Roanoke, Ellen worked for many years as a
clinical supervisor in a mental health agency in Washington, DC, which
served persons with psychiatric illnesses, substance abuse and trauma
histories.
Ellen is an active member of the National Association of
Social Workers and serves on the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge

In her practice with the Manassas Group, Ellen works with adults living with
depression, bi-polar disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), sexual
abuse histories, and substance abuse. She also sees couples, those dealing
with divorce, relationship problems, grief, Post Partum Depression, and new
mothers. Ellen is also interested in gay and lesbian issues and working
with people from other cultures who are adjusting to a new country and
recovering from their immigration experience.
Ellen is interested in helping her clients observe themselves
and their patterns of reacting or behaving certain ways, and then to help
people re-learn new ways of responding to life. Once a person has gained
insight into themselves, they have the power to choose their next step and
influence the life they want for themselves.
Ellen is available for presentations to other mental health
providers and community groups and will develop presentations that best
suite your needs. |
